Reply to comments with the Social Inbox

Read, reply to, hide, and triage comments on your TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and Threads posts from one inbox in PostFast, with unread tracking and team assignment.

Updated 2026-08-044 min read

The Social Inbox collects the comments people leave on your TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and Threads posts into one place, so you can answer them without opening four apps. Comments arrive automatically, usually within seconds of being posted, and the inbox is part of every plan, including trials.

Which platforms are covered

  • TikTok: Business connections only, because TikTok delivers comment events on the Business API. Replies up to 150 characters. Commenter names can take about a minute to appear.
  • Instagram: Business and Creator accounts, which PostFast already requires when you connect. Replies up to 2,200 characters. Private replies are supported, see below.
  • Facebook: Pages. Replies up to 8,000 characters.
  • Threads: Replies up to 500 characters. Repliers show as usernames with no profile photos, which is a Threads limitation, and deleting a comment isn't available.

LinkedIn is coming soon. The inbox does not cover X, YouTube, Pinterest, Bluesky, Telegram, or Google Business Profile.

There's nothing to set up

Comments are pushed to PostFast by the platforms and land in your inbox within seconds. There's no setup step, and no need to keep refreshing to check for new ones.

Facebook and Threads may need one reconnect. If your Facebook Page was connected before 2026-07-28, or your Threads account before 2026-08-04, reconnect it once so comments start being delivered. It's a one-time reconnect to grant the comment permission, and nothing else about the account changes.

Open the inbox

In the dashboard sidebar, click Inbox to open your inbox. The sidebar carries your unread count, capped at 99+.

If you don't see Inbox in the sidebar, or the page tells you "You do not have access to the inbox", ask a workspace admin for inbox access.

With nothing waiting, the Open tab reads "You're all caught up".

Read a conversation

Conversations are grouped per post. Each one is named after the latest person who commented: their username on Instagram, Threads, and TikTok, and their display name on Facebook.

Unread conversations show a count. Open one and a New divider marks where you left off. Opening a conversation marks it read on its own, so there's no button to press.

PostFast also raises a bell notification when a comment comes in, at most once every 20 minutes per conversation.

Reply to a comment

  1. Open the conversation and type into Write a reply.
  2. Click Reply, or press Cmd/Ctrl+Enter.

The live counter shows how much room the platform gives you. To answer one specific comment rather than the post, use Reply on that comment in the thread.

Your reply shows up once. When the platform reports it back, PostFast recognizes it instead of adding a duplicate.

Hide or delete a comment

Open the ⋯ Actions menu on a comment and pick:

  • Hide to hide the comment, and Unhide to bring it back.
  • Delete to remove it. PostFast asks first: "Delete this comment? This removes the comment on the platform as well. This cannot be undone."

This works the other way too. If you hide, delete, or edit a comment in the platform's own app, PostFast picks up the change on its own.

Send a private reply on Instagram

On an Instagram comment, Send private reply opens a dialog: "You can send exactly one private reply to this comment. It arrives as a direct message." Write your text and click Send.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • One per comment. A second attempt on the same comment is refused.
  • Within 7 days of the comment being posted.
  • Roughly 1,000 characters, less if you use emoji, since some characters count for more than one.
  • It can land in the recipient's Message Requests folder.
  • Instagram only.

Triage and assign

Every conversation has a status, shown as the Open, Snoozed, and Closed tabs. Use Snooze to park a conversation, Close when it's handled, and Reopen to bring it back.

To hand a conversation to a teammate, use Assign and pick a workspace member, or Assign to me to take it yourself. Unassign clears it again.

Filter the list

Narrow a busy inbox with the Platforms, Accounts, and Assignee filters (including Assigned to me) and the Unread toggle. Clear filters resets everything.

Who can reply and moderate

By default, every role can view the inbox. Replying, sending private replies, hiding, deleting, changing status, and assigning need Admin or Editor. A Client can read the inbox but can't reply or moderate. As everywhere else in PostFast, an admin can override these per user.

Inbox access is separate from the Comments permission in the Edit Permissions dialog. That one covers internal team comments your workspace leaves on posts inside PostFast. The Social Inbox is about comments the public leaves on your published posts.

Older comments aren't imported

The inbox holds comments from the point your account starts delivering them onward. Comments left before that aren't pulled in retroactively, so an older post's existing comments won't show up.

If a comment doesn't appear

Delivery normally takes seconds. If a fresh comment hasn't appeared after 5 minutes, and your account doesn't need a reconnect, email [email protected] and we'll take a look.
